The Red River is the second largest river of Vietnam after Mekong. It descends from Yunnan, a mountainous region south of China. It is known as the "six-head river" that enters Vietnam definitively at Lao Cai. It curves on more than 1000km ( over 600 miles ) before dying in the somptuous bay of Hạ Long.

Ben Hai River is one of the notable Vietnam rivers as it acted as a demarcation line between the northern and southern zone of the country by the Geneva Accords in 1954. The zone distinguishing the two parts extended about 3 miles from both sides of the river. To get there, follow National Road No. 20 from Da Lat. The waterfall is 18 kilometers west of Bao Loc Town. This majestic waterfall, 90 meters tall, is an important waterfall in Da Lat and Lam Dong, especially on tours departing from Ho Chi Minh City, provinces in the Mekong Delta and Binh Thuan Province.
This scenic spot, on the horder with China, sees very few visitors. The name Ban Gioc is derived from the Montagnard languages spoken in the area, and is sometimes spelt Ban Doc.

West Lake is in Tay Ho District, Hanoi. West Lake, also called Ho Tay, is the biggest lake in central Hanoi, covering 500ha. In the past, West Lake used to be part of the Red River. West Lake, a beautiful spot in Hanoi, was once a resort for mandarins and kings.
Hoan Kiem Lake, or the Lake of the Restored Sword, is located directly in the centre of Hanoi. The name is derived from a legend involving Emperor Le Thai To, in which he came across a giant tortoise while cruising on the lake. The tortoise took his sword that had secured victory against the Chinese aggressors of the Minh Dynasty. The emperor named the lake after this episode.
Ba Be is Vietnam’s largest natural lake and is now the centrepiece of an extensive National Park. The park and the surrounding area is limestone country, so lakes, waterfalls, caves and unusual rock formations abound. The whole area is richly forested and home to many ethnic minority communities.
